Happy Birthday to me!
Sun 16th Jul '06
I got spoiled rotten for my Birthday on Thursday. Even had half a day off work! It just so happened that my birthday fell on Grafton Cup day, giving me not only time off work, but something to do with my time off work!
I managed to keep in the black too. Won enough on the cup to almost pay for everything I had spent, including entry fee, drinks and food. Cant complain! Thankyou Gai Waterhouse and a horse named 'Rocking on'.
I got some really nice clothes and a wonderful picture frame containing a image of Mt Warning I bought when Tracy and I first got together. I also got some gift vouchers so I can buy more clothes too... I also got a guitar songbook, a clear hint that i need to get my guitar out. I was also given just enough money to buy a set of bongos - just a small set - so I think I might do that. Always wanted some. Plus I got some chocolate, with hazelnuts. As I said, spoiled rotten!
My linux experiment is gaining momentum. Initially i couldnt listen to any of my music, watch any of my video, or write data to my external hard drive. I have solved all these problems! Nice. And I only had to re-install the whole thing once. No skype video though, and even skype for audio only is... dodgy I think. Perhaps I can still improve that. Feel free to try my 'skype me' link. I think I am nearing a point where I can live with it, and not need any windows apps though.
Tracy and I now have the whole house to ourselves and we are enjoying the space. Matt & Amy got a house over at South Grafton. It's quite a nice place, I hope they are going to be really happy there. Theres a tonne of room downstairs for the kids to play (and matt too).
Tim and Ange are in town this weekend, so they came over and watched Dylan's soccer game. They won 1-0. Awesome.
Alex has bought her first car, a mazda 626. Very nice, too. She brought it over to show it to me, but the crappy weather meant I couldnat have too good a look. Not to worry, I know Mazdas are tops.
