Hello all!
Jeez, it's been a while hasn't it?
Lots to tell!
Hmm. Let me see. I have bought a 20 inch flat screen monitor for my PC. $200 on ebay! Since getting Linux up and running, and my lovely big screen, I decided my PC needed a freshen up so I whipped it to bits and spray painted it. So now my tower is metallic dark grey, and nicely matches with my black keyboard and mouse, and my new silver & black monitor, for once my PC looks cohesive again.
Dylan has turned 6. Its been a big year for him. His soccer team finished the season undefeated. I'm not so sure this is a good thing, I dont want him thinking that winning is normal... but it was nice for him. I compiled a CD of photos and distributed it to the parents, they loved that.
Tracy is oh so close to finishing her studies, meaning she will start full time work soon and with any luck we can buy a house! Shes doing so well, getting top marks. We have been watching the property market tentatively, and are leaning towards Junction Hill as potential neighbourhood.
Work is going well, I have finally started my way into Ajax, an emerging web technology which combines browsers and servers to make online web applications which behave more like desktop applications. I am really enjoying it! It opens so many doors, and makes my results heaps better.
I am really keen to make my first electric car! No really, I dream of one day starting a car company. So anyway, for my first project, I am going to make a two seater go-cart for the kids. It will be electric powered, 12V to start with, and as the kids grow I will refine and develop it to get faster and more sophisticated as we go, increasing it to 24V and higher as necessary. I have already come up with the basic idea, although no plans on paper (screen..?) yet. I will start with one speed, one wheel drive, while I get the basics of steering and suspension sorted, after which time I will add another motor and make it 2 wheel drive, and add a speed controller. By the end of the project, I hope to have it 4 wheel independently driven, with traction control, stability control, electrically assisted disc brakes and all the electronic engine controls I can muster, ready to take it to the next level - converting a real car!
Anyway everybody, have fun, hope to see you all soon. If you live in brissy, I am loading the family into the car in a few weeks, and headed up your way!
Take care!
