Im going on a time machine!
Tue 31st Oct '06
I've decided springtime is for the bees, so I'm going to check out a northern hemisphere autumn. My trip through time into autumn should only take about 8 hours (6 if you look at the depart/arrival times) and I will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for only about 36 hours. I am meeting with a company over there to discuss a joint venture to enter the Asian market. Then I take another 8 hour time machine ride (10 if you rely on the gate times) and I return to present-day Brisbane.
In other news, Tracy and I are keeping our 'Always underestimate the challenge' record in tact. We went to the beach a couple of weeks ago, and discovered (by accident) Angourie Bay. After a lovely breakfast at our favourite slow food cafe, we were sitting on the rocks watching the ocean, as we love to do, when a surfer passed by and headed over the dunes to somewhere beyond. Tracy's logic was that the surfers know the best spots, so we took his silent advice and wandered off in slow pursuit and discovered what the kids and I now refer to as 'Wiggle Bay'. I've taken to calling everything 'Wiggle' so I can get the kids interested. Wiggle cakes. Wiggly fruit salad. Wiggly cleaning... has yet to work. Anyway, after spending some time wandering around the shallows enjoying this new place we decided to try taking a different way home. How far could it be? We could follow the road back to Angourie, and we would know where to park the car next time and how to find this place with the kids. Sounded like a great plan. It now joins the 'Great Mt Warning underestimation', and 'The Great Marlow underestimation' on our growing list of sorely learnt lessons. We walked 3.5kms on a rough pebbled road, in thongs! To get back from a lovely stroll along the beach, we trudged across a dusty deserted expanse dodging the rocks being flung at us from passing guerillas in beach-bound unroadworthy vehicles. It was like we were being laughed at by the Gods and the locals! By the time we got back to the car we were well and truly ready to trade our legs in, so we headed for home.
We took the kids to Wiggle Bay this weekend (in the car) and got some nice photos. Here's the

Another chapter of Our Great Underestimations had written itself only a few weeks before we are to set off on our second Mt Warning expedition. I hope the mountain hasn't grown too much, but I dare not estimate it! At my rate it will have surpassed Kosciusko.
Now for the music report. I got a new guitar! A Cort SFX5 folk guitar. I love it. I got a stand and it sits in the lounge room where i can pick it up anytime. I will post a photo of it, too!
