CeBit done and dusted!
Sat 24th May '08
Well its been a big week. Yes I know I have largely ignored my own blog for a while. I finally have some time and the inclination to make a post, and tidy it up a little. There's just been too much else to do! For example, this week I flew to Sydney for a look at the CeBit exhibition at Darling Harbour. For me it was a little bit of a letdown as far as exhibitions go. Not enough competitions and freebies! I wanted to win something gosh darn it! Plus, I didnt see any really interesting 'geeky' stuff. Lots of great products, but nothing that really captured my imagination.
Some highlights of the trip were:
-
Seeing the Altech boys try and overclock a 3.16Ghz Core2Duo processor to 5.3Ghz, only to see them fail miserably when the preinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate refused to boot. They had dry ice, even liquid nitrogen there to cool the CPU (which they did) but since it wouldnt boot beforehand anyway, i was wondering why they bothered... I desperately wanted to hand them an Ubuntu live CD to try, but didnt have one...
- Staying with Paul & Carly
- The very strange bathroom in the wicked nightclub we went to in The Rocks (the Argyle?)
- Leaving Sydney (I'm not a fan of the place)
