Uncle Bill's Farm
Tue 05th Jul '05
I went out to Uncle Bill's farm this weekend. My intention was to clean it up and take some photos of the place. I borrowed Nan's LandCruiser and headed out there on my own, thinking a quiet arvo with the camera and a broom would be good for me.
The place is in quite a mess, the home has been destroyed by vandals. Anyone who has been there since National Parks bought the place knows what I mean. Every peice of glass broken or stolen. Holes kicked in the walls. Doors smashed. Rubbish inside. Holes in the ceiling, roofing iron stolen. It is a very sad sight. I actually found a couple parked at the Rocky Creek bridge (last one before the house) enjoying a cuppa by the creek. I pulled over to say Gday, and they asked if I knew where the road went and how far in it went. What followed was a guided tour of the house and a history story of the place, so I lost over an hour. I ended up not getting to clean the place up on this trip - but I didnt mind. It's nice to see people are enjoying the bush out there, and that they find our story interesting.
I took about 80 Photos while I was out there, I will make up a page of them soon, but in the meantime here is just a few.
What an awesome place for a BBQ - we never did it often enough.
The place still looks charming even after years of neglect.
An aussie icon - the stockyards. I love this shot, with the sun glistening through the trees and flaring on the camera lens.
I'll post a link here when i make the full gallery of 80-odd photos. Some photos make me sad, though - the place is going to ruin.
